KEEPING IT REAL - Enjoying the weekend at the beach...

So we were up and packed and out of the house by 9:00 a.m. and headed for the South Bay Area. Peter was meeting with Danny to help him out with his house in Lomita.

We headed for the Redondo Beach Rivera. It was sunny and beautiful and HOT. The girls walked around the plaza and Peter and I went to get lunch since they had a big breakfast.

We dropped Peter off to met Danny and they went to work. While the girls (Calinia and Alexa) and I went to the Del Amo Mall, which they enjoyed alot. We ended our shopping spree early than expected because the girls ran out of money. Went back to the hotel room to relax and Peter and Danny showed up around 6:00 p.m.

Met up with Mike, Carl, & Bobby for dinner, we ate at Boca di Beppo, it was a nice time.

On Sunday, we slept in and went for an early lunch at the local cafe. It was wonderful, and tasty. We headed for the the Redondo Beach Pier and enjoyed the sights and the sounds of the waves. It wasn't as crowded as we thought it would be, then we went to the Hermosa Strand and the girls enjoyed watching the surfers catch the wave. We left late and we were very tired when we came home. See pictures on photobucket.

It was nice just to get away even for the two days and just to enjoy each other's company. It was good.

KEEPING IT REAL - Santa Ana Winds...

It is a beautiful day outside, sun is shining the air is warm and there is a slight breeze. The problem is I am in the house with my sinus's acting up. It has been at least three months of this and not being able to breath through my nostrils, gets rather old. Not to mention the oxygen that is not getting to my brain!!!! It amazes me that something as small as this, takes the energy out of you.

I did finally download my photobucket with some of my paintings. I haven't painted in a year or so, so I am thinking that it shows. It is like anything else, practice make is easier and better.

That's it for now -

KEEPING IT REAL - A week is soon to passed...

WOW!!! This week has gone by so fast. I have been enjoying my time off, with no problem filling my day. I have been looking for a job but you can figure that there is nothing out there.

Listening to the news (which is so bias) is depressing. I just go on line to get the truth of the matter from other news sources who tell it like it is.

Anyways the sun is shining but the air is cold. I posted this a day ago, but I am adding to it.

We did have a earthquake last night and thank goodness it was not big. It was however a jolt that surprised us! Even Mini Cooper who was asleep in Calinia's room woke up to the jolt and she sleeps through everything!

Today is a beautiful California day, beside the fact that it is Friday. I am proud to say that we are back on track with the exercising. It has been about three months since we took a break from it. We feel it, and we don't like the feeling. I must admit that last year we exercised 9 months consecutive (5 days a week, 30-45 minutes a day) we are committed to staying healthy.
It has been a hard habit to develop but we know the outcome if we don't.

Calinia is outside with Mini Cooper enjoying the sun, Peter is mowing the lawn and I am cleaning house. It is all good!

KEEPING IT REAL - Already January....

As Peter and I rang in the New Year together, I think it was the first time we had enjoyed each other's company in a long time. With all the "going in different directions" everyday for months at a time, without even realizing it "we missed each other". Calinia spent New Year's Eve with friends who celebrated at the church with the High School group. It was hard to ring in the New Year without her, I know it is just another parenting skill that we have been working on this past year, "letting go".

As I think on what is ahead of us this year, I realize that we will be walking into new territory. It is a scary thought on how fast time goes and how it really does get away from us.

I can recall some kindergarten memories and in that same instance recall graduating from college. One moment I am excited about my first job, next thing I realize is that I have been working for 28 years. I remember my Wedding Day and how I felt about getting married and here we are coming into 25 years of marriage (27 years total). I remember how excited I was being pregnant with Calinia and now here she is graduating from High School in 5 months.

This year presents hugh milestones in each of our lives as well as a family. I will be turning 45 this March, Calinia graduates from High School in May, starts college in July, turns 18 in August, Peter turns 60 on September 28th, and we will be celebrating 25 years together two days later.

I heard a saying years ago to this effect "There are many weeds in life, they are known to choke the very breath out of you. In the mist of these weeds there are roses that will enhance and fill your life with purpose, as you go through your journey in life it is what you choose to pick and keep with you that will determine your out come".

As I ponder through my thoughts, I have to thank GOD that I have always stopped to pick up many roses along the way to keep, tend to love and nurture them. It is these precious roses that have enhanced my life to the fullest.
